Wireless Internet around Agency Lake / Modoc Point
As part of our expansion around the Klamath Lake and Agency Lake areas,
FireServe is pleased to introduce our 20Mbps UltraBroadband wireless Internet
service in the Agency Lake and Modoc Point area. Now there's no reason to be stuck with dismal
dialup speeds, tied-up phone lines and constant problems with line noise
disrupting your Internet connection! Previously, Agency Lake and Modoc Point
residents only had dialup and satellite Internet options available. Now
you can step into the 21st century with a true broadband Internet connection
for about the same cost as dialup Internet!
Pure Speed and Convenience
FireServe's UltraBroadband 20Mbps service is one of the fastest broadband
Internet connections available anywhere, even among large cities and urban
areas, providing up to 20Mbps of download
speed and 5Mbps of upload speed, 24/7. The FireServe wireless connection
is always connected to the Internet, unlike dialup service that ties up your
phone line.
For comparison, 20Mbps is approximately 400x faster than the fastest dialup
Internet connection (or even faster than that when compared with poor-quality
rural
phone lines), and approximately 20x faster than most satellite-based Internet
options. Watch web pages spring onto your screen in seconds or less
rather than
make your morning coffee run or eat breakfast while waiting for them to load!
How It Works
A grid dish antenna mounts at your location and communicates with
our antennas on Ball Mountain southeast of Rocky Point and across Klamath Lake
from Agency Lake and Modoc Point. The antenna is
approximately 24" x 36" and mounts in a similar way to most satellite
dishes (in fact, a DirecTV or Dish Network mount works fine for mounting
our antennas). An Ethernet cable runs from the antenna back to a small
indoor
power supply and connects to your computer. Your FireServe connection
is always on, and doesn't tie up your phone line.
Where It Works
To use FireServe's UltraBroadband service from the Agency Lake and Modoc Point area, you need
to have clear
unobstructed line-of-sight to our site on Ball Mountain, southeast of Rocky
Point and across Klamath Lake from Agency Lake and Modoc Point. Below is an interactive
map of our estimated coverage in the Agency Lake / Modoc Point
area. Click your left mouse button on the map and drag to scroll
around, or use the zoom bar on the left to zoom in or out:
Want to check coverage for your address? Fill in your street address
below (no P.O. Boxes, this must be your actual physical address) and
our system will attempt to estimate signal strength at your location:
To use the service, you need unobstructed line-of-sight to our Ball
Mountain site. Trees, terrain and structures block the wireless
signal. Here's a photo from the Agency Lake / Modoc Point area showing the
location you need unobstructed visibility of:

What It Costs
Our UltraBroadband wireless services are available with a variety of usage
plans starting as low as $20/mo. FireServe is unique in how we ensure
the highest speeds at the lowest prices. With most ISP's, casual
Internet users are subsidizing the costs of heavy Internet users that
download continuously. With FireServe, you only pay based on your
actual usage level, so that you're not subsidizing other users and your
price stays low! For heavier users that download huge files or
want to stream movies and live video, we also have heavier usage plans
custom-tailored to your needs. Unlike other ISP's, we don't charge
different rates for residential customers vs. business customers. It's
the same price regardless what you use your Internet connection for!
Most "casual" users, who use their Internet connection for Email, browse
websites online and only occasionally
download large files or videos, pay just $20/mo for our Casual
User plan with 2GB/mo of traffic included. Heavier usage users can select
from our Normal User, Moderate User, Serious User and eXtreme User plans.
But regardless of the service plan you choose,
you can count on FireServe's ultra high speed always being there for you.
Equipment and Installation
When you sign up for our 20Mbps UltraBroadband service, you will need to
purchase the equipment for your location. This includes the outdoor
dish antenna, attached radio transceiver, cabling to run into your home or
business, an indoor power supply, and an Ethernet cable to connect to your
computer or LAN. The equipment is priced at $199.
You can either choose to install your equipment yourself, or we can arrange
professional on-site installation for approximately $85 in most cases.
Special circumstances or unusual mounting requirements / locations may
vary in installation cost.
How to Get Started
Ready to leap into the 21st century and leave your dialup or satellite
Internet connection behind forever? Here's how to get started:
- Check If You Have Coverage
Check the coverage map and photo of Ball Mountain from the Agency Lake and
Modoc Point areas above
to get a good estimate of coverage. If you're not sure if you have
coverage, or think you have clear visibility of Ball Mountain even if the
coverage map does not show coverage for your location, give us a call at
541-273-4808 for assistance.
- Decide On a Service Plan
If you know you're going to be downloading heavily, streaming movies or doing
other heavy usage activities, give us a call at 541-273-4808 to discuss the
best service plan for your needs.
If you're a casual Internet user that doesn't do a lot of heavy downloading
and watching movies online, you can start with our $20/mo Casual User plan
and switch plans later if you need.
- Call To Sign Up!
Give us a call at 541-273-4808 to sign up. In many cases, we can have
you up and running within a day (sometimes longer with professional on-site
installation), although the introductory special period until
July 1, 2010 may cause brief delays while we ramp up service to many
Agency Lake / Modoc Point area residents simultaneously.
Who We Are
FireServe is a small locally-owned company in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
We were the first
broadband Internet provider in the Klamath Basin in early 2000, and have led the way
in bringing new and faster Internet access technologies throughout southern
Oregon ever since. FireServe is also a wireless equipment manufacturer and
consultant on design and software for several other wireless equipment
manufacturers. Who better to get your wireless Internet connection from
than a leader in the wireless technology field?
FireServe has two redundant fiber optic connections at separate fully-independent
locations within our network, one at full GigE (1000Mbps)
speeds plus a 45Mbps standby backup connection. Our network is carefully engineered
for fault tolerance and self-healing with multiple
redundant backbones, industry-standard Cisco routers, and standby
generators at our downtown Klamath Falls data center and each of our
fiber optic connection sites. We own our own IP addresses and our
network is IPv6-enabled and ready. You can rest
assured that we're not a fly-by-night operation with equipment slapped
together in random ways and operating solely due to sheer luck!
